This year’s winter conference for Professional Bail Agents of the United States (PBUS) is being held February 20th in Las Vegas. Agents from all across America will be coming together to discuss topics about educational opportunities, the upcoming elections, and legislation that constantly threatens to shake up the private bail industry. There are several reasons for every bondsman to consider attending this year’s conference.
Elections are going to be held for the new Board of Directors and Executive Board. Each bail bondsman will have the opportunity to vote and help guide the direction and goals of PBUS for the upcoming years. It is important for agents to take part in the elections because those who are chosen will be guiding fellow members over the next couple years.
The elected members of the Executive Board and Board of Directors will be presented during the Savoy breakfast on Thursday at the conference.

During the conference, agents will get the chance to interact with their fellow bondsmen and network with others in the industry from all over the country. This is a great opportunity to learn about what is going on in the bail industry in other states.
By learning about what is happening in other states when it comes to the bail industry, agents will be able to work together to fight against unfair legislation and find new and better ways to improve public opinion about bondsmen.
The profession is constantly under attack from programs that are tax-payer-based so it is increasingly important for agents to come together and present a singular voice that promotes the industry.
There is a lot to be learned at the upcoming conference, with six Certified Bail Agent courses, bail-related product sessions and services, and various exhibitors.
The schedule for the Certified Bail Agent courses is:
CBA III: Monday 8:00 am- 11:00 am
CBA IV: Monday 8:00 am- 11:00 am
CBA V: Monday 8:00 am- 11:00 am
CBA VI: Monday 8:00 am- 11:00 am
CBA I: Tuesday 8:00 am- 10:00 am
CBA II: Tuesday 10:00 am- 12:00 pm
Speakers will be covering topics such as bail agent marketing, using social media to promote the business and the industry, and how to use databases to recover fugitives.
Three new speakers at this year’s conference will be Dennis Bartlett who will be discussing key initiatives and legislation for the bail industry; the Honorable Judge McBain will discuss his support of the private bail business; Ed Taylor will be talking to agents about the importance and utility of Internet Marketing for their business.
